Motivation To Work From Home

Motivation is a challenge in itself; and for people working from home it is the ultimate test. If you want to be productive and make good money while working from home, then you have to face the test of motivation on a daily basis. When you have a home based business it is easy to become bored quickly. For instance, a person working in medical transcription might miss the energy and enthusiasm of being surrounded by colleagues in a standard work place. The fact that you are your own boss can make you slack and become less self disciplined. Here are a few useful tips on how to keep you motivated while working from home.

Set Goals
Setting goals will begin the motivation process. Set simple goals that are achievable, such as earning an extra $100 dollars per month or finding a new client in the next two weeks.

Make Your Hours Productive
For many of us we are most productive during certain times of the day. I’m most productive in the morning and least productive during late nights; so I ensure that my work is completed by late evening. Otherwise I will simply fall asleep at my desk.

Set Office Hours
Try working during regular office hours, this will remind you to be focused and professional. Avoid such things as watching TV, playing video games or constantly becoming distracted with daily chores. Give yourself a few breaks in between. Take a lunch break and do something interesting while eating. I like reading a mystery story while having lunch; this tends to keep my adrenalin pumping throughout the day. Schedule your break time and activities, so that you won’t have to waste time organizing lunch or wondering what to do during your breaks.

Limit Distractions
It is so easy to become distracted while running a home business. I find myself constantly being distracted by my dog and cats; invariably they are hungry or getting into fights with each other. Distractions make us less productive and even take away some self discipline. Once you are distracted it is difficult to resume the level of concentration you had before the incident. Avoid long phone conversations, unnecessary texting and too many unscheduled breaks.

Take Time Off
Go on short vacations and have fun! Work at home businesses can become boring too easily. When you work from home, you are never able to fully separate your personal life from your professional one. Get away from the computer every once in while. Go for a long drive on your weekend and hang out with friends. This will make you feel refreshed for the next looming Monday!!!

Work From Home Myth

One of the worst myths is people saying that having a work from home job is easy. Even if you are minus a family and kids in tow, setting up a home business and skillfully managing your time is rather rigorous. It will be imperative that you keep your hat on almost all of the time, playing many distinctive roles from the manager, to the marketer and the bookkeeper. While hiring outsiders is helpful, a start up work from home business must be cautious and wary of employing others too quickly. The financial strain might be too much to take on so early in the game...

If you think that working from home is a piece of cake, well.... then you are yet to bake it! This may sound like doomsday to some, but as long as you are preparing to face any obstacles that cross your path, you are well and truly on your way to landing your dream work from home business!!!

Writing from Home - My Journey

I simply love writing and always wanted to pursue it, not as a hectic, deadline oriented, red in the face, pulling out my hair kind of job. But something I could do at my own pace and convenience. For over five years I worked for a couple of non-profit organizations. I learnt many new things and how our humane world generally responds to world disasters.

It was good, it was bad! At times I lost faith, wondering why there need be so many rules, when wanting to help somebody. Couldn't we just help? Was sitting around writing proposals which took months on end actually necessary. Handing over some dosh sounded more like a fun idea! Especially for those who had never handled a dime in their life.

I felt it was time to move on. And maybe just take a chance with attempting to write and see if I could earn money off it. I had been writing for many years, since I was in school. I wrote short stories, essays, narratives and poems. It was my secret getaway from reality. So about year ago, and with some experience under my belt, I began searching for work from home writing opportunities. I came across thousands of ads, many of them saying that I could become a millionaire, in a couple of weeks - with work from home jobs. This somehow sounded too good to be true. And it probably was! Then I found a local ad calling for freelance article writers, and this seemed like what I was looking for. I started writing and enjoying it thoroughly, but by the end of the month it slowly began dawning on me, that this was a just another scam! Yes, I didn't even get paid, and I had worked pretty hard I must say! Moving on - found another local ad looking for a freelance writer, this time by an individual freelancer who took me on as part of a team. I began writing for her in somewhat of a state of apprehension, and when pay day came, I found myself literally panicking. But I couldn't believe my luck! I actually got paid! It felt mighty good! And then an idea began forming at the back of my mind that, maybe, I could chuck my job, and actually work from home!

At this stage I thought I'll try pushing my luck a little further. So I created a portfolio, updated my resume, added a few sample articles and searched the internet for hours on end; found about a hundred email addresses of writing companies and pressed the sent button along with my application! And guess what? I got as many as eight positive replies, which made me simply ecstatic, considering I was still a sort of an amateur who had stumbled upon this kind of work.

I finally began writing full time a couple of months ago, while still working my office job. It was exhilarating knowing that I could do this from home - real soon! And That's what I'm doing right now, simply taking a couple of hours off from my writing, to update my blog and share this with you folks out there who are also thinking of doing something similar! It can be done, believe me. I never thought it possible to get this kind of an opportunity, where I get to balance both my home and work life - quite beautifully!!!
